HR Oil, the HR Division from G-Comex, recruits for a Petroleum Multinational Company the following position:
Drilling Engineer
Qualification & Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree and/or professional qualification with a minimum of 10 years Offshore Drilling experience. Previous international experience and the ability to speak Portuguese and English fluently will be considered an advantage. The ability to work in a diverse, multi-functional team composed of varied cultures and competencies will be essential.
The Drilling Engineer will report to the Lead Drilling Engineer.
The incumbent’s key functions are as follows:
· Provide technical support for bidding and contracting equipment and services.
· Participate in Well Teams to generate well plans which achieve objectives in a safe, cost effective manner.
· Works with production and reservoir engineers, geology, geophysical, construction, regulatory and other drilling team personnel to ensure goals are well understood and achievable.
· Manage time to ensure well plans are completed and approved at least 1 week prior to spud.
· Arrange and conduct pre-spud meetings for all wells.
· Conduct post-operation reviews involving operations personnel to ensure best practices are adopted and communicated.
· Support daily operations via daily communications with operations personnel, ensuring needs have been met, highlight upcoming drilling conditions (i.e. pressure transitions, lost circulation zones, etc) and identify methods of enhancing performance. Provide onsite support during critical operations.
· Design wells to meet APC’s design standards.
· Ensures compliance with wellsite operational safety, environment and regulatory, requirements and verify that reporting and notifications are made to the appropriate agencies.
· Communicate equipment and services needs in a timely manner to ensure potential long lead time items are procured in a timely manner.
· Develop networks within and outside APC to leverage APC’s budget and improve performance.
· Leverage the use of in-house vendors to maximize their value to APC.
· Develop conversational knowledge of other disciplines to enhance knowledge of their contributions to the drilling process.
· Participate in Engineering Duty Rotation.
· Evaluate and identify potential new technology which reduces the Project’s costs.
· Procures all permits for wells
· Ensures that accurate cost and time estimates for well work are prepared and provided in a timely manner.
· Evaluates alternative methods and equipment to improve the efficiency of the project. These might include review of procedures, review of new or innovative equipment or materials and different applications of existing equipment or materials.
· Reviews and approves invoices for payment. Work with vendors and contractors to ensure accurate and proper billing for work performed or materials and supplies provided.
· Maintains current knowledge and competencies of technological advances by interacting with co-workers, service company personnel and representatives from other companies.
· Maintain responsibility for personal development.
· Identifies and implements performance enhancements.
